Abdullo Narzullaev is a 6th generation master potter working in the Gijduvan tradition, one of the principal schools of traditional ceramics in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. In 2000 he founded the Gijduvan Glazed Ceramics Centre, where he now works with his family, apprentices and assistants. The women of the family, under the guidance of the grandmother, Mustapshira Barakaeva, also produce the traditional silk embroideries characteristic of Gijduvan. The Centre incorporates a ceramic museum exhibiting the traditional styles of Central Asia, a gallery dealing in the traditional crafts of the region, a traditional ceramic workshop producing wood-fired glazed earthenware, an embroidery workshop and the Narzullaev family home. It also includes facilities for visiting ceramicists.
